The angle valve is used primarily in throttling service to provide for efficient throttling. It eliminates the use of extra fittings and elbows. The shorter disc travel and fewer turns lead to less time and wear on the valve stem and bonnet. The angle valve provides for a 90-degree change in flow direction. Usually the seat and disc of the angle valve can be repaired without removing the valve from the line.
